April 18, 2005: The 2005 SMART program selection have been made. Click here to view the results. Selected finalists must complete a signed statement indicating their intent to participate in the 2005 SMART program. This microsoft word document can be downloaded here. February 16-18, 2005: Professor Vikram Kapila presented a poster on the SMART Project at NSF's 2005 Engineering & Computing Education Grantee Meeting.
October 27, 2004: SMART Program hosted over 30 assistant principals of science from New York City area High Schools.

October 20, 2004: Professor Vikram Kapila has presented Introduction to Robotics to over 200 Polytechnic freshmen in the freshmen engineering course EG1004.
October 16, 2004: Dr. Ronald N. Occhiogrosso presented a poster on the SMART Project at the 2004 INSPIRE conference.
October 13, 2004: SMART Program hosted over 30 assistant principals of science from New York City area Junior High Schools.
Summer 2004: Saul Harari, a member of Mechatronics @ Poly, has been awarded a graduate fellowship by the Department of Homeland Security.

December 19, 2003: Under the GK-12 Fellows program, Division of Graduate Education of the National Science Foundation has awarded Polytechnic University a three year grant titled "Track1, GK-12: Revitalizing Achievement by using Instrumentation in Science Education (RAISE)." Professor Vikram Kapila, the PI and director of the SMART project, will serve as the PI and director of the RAISE project. The following Polytechnic faculty will serve as the Co-PIs on the RAISE project: Professor Magued G. Iskander and Professor Noel N. Kriftcher. Click here for more details.
November 24, 2003: SMART Project Nugget for the 2004 NSF Design, Service and Manufacturing Grantees and Research Conference.
November 7, 2003: Saul Harari, a member of Mechatronics @ Poly, has been awarded a scholarship by the Department of Homeland Security. See a recent news article by Polytechnic University showcasing Saul's accomplishment.

The SMART Day @ Poly is being organized to showcase exciting and imaginative projects developed by the 2003 SMART participants. New York City pre-college administrators and teachers of science and math are invited to see and understand SMART teachers' projects in order that these teachers might assist them in introducing these concepts in their school districts. You are cordially invited to attend this event and support the SMART teachers.
