Dr. Vikram Kapila
Vikram Kapila was born in Ludhiana, India. He received the B.Tech. degree in Production
Engineering and Management from Regional Engineering College, Calicut, India,
in 1988, and the M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Institute
of Technology, Melbourne, Florida, in March 1993, with specialization in dynamics
and control. From September 1991 to December 1993 he was a Graduate Teaching Assistant
with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, at Florida Tech.
From January 1994 to January 1996 he was a Research Assistant in the School of
Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech. He received his Ph.D. degree in March 1996,
with specialization in Flight Mechanics and Control. From January 1996 to August
1996 he performed research at Georgia Tech as a Research Scholar where he also
taught Flight Mechanics and Control Laboratory from January 1996 to March 1996
as a Teaching Assistant and Vibrations and System Dynamics from April 1996 to
June 1996 as an Adjunct Faculty Member. In September 1996 Dr. Kapila joined Polytechnic
University of Brooklyn, New York, where he is currently a Professor
in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Manufacturing Engineering. His
current research interests include absolute stability theory, robust control,
periodic and multirate systems, fixed-architecture absolute stabilization, stable
stabilization, control of systems with saturating actuators, and control of time
delay systems . He is particularly interested in control system design, dynamic
modeling, numerical simulation, and algorithm development for aerospace and mechanical
systems. Dr. Kapila is a native of Kanpur, India.
